Where It Began — Muhammad Younas and the Art of Pattern-Making
Sialkot has produced world-class leather goods for over a century. In the 1980s, as European motorcycle brands began sourcing premium gloves from Pakistan, one name became synonymous with precision in pattern-making: Muhammad Younas.My father entered the industry in the early 1980s as a pattern master and he was a skilled stitching expert— the most technically demanding role in glove manufacturing. He developed the templates that determine a glove’s fit, protection, articulation, and durability. In motorcycle safety gear, poor fit means poor protection — and real consequences.
Through the 1980s and 1990s, he created patterns for leading European brands, with a deep understanding of how leather behaves under stress — how it stretches, creases, and performs through repeated use. To him, a glove was never flat, but a three-dimensional product engineered for critical moments.
I grew up watching this process firsthand. I learned glove construction at the craft level long before I understood business. When Muhammad Younas stepped back in 1999, he left more than a career — he left a standard of craftsmanship and technical knowledge that continues to shape my work today and forms the foundation of Sixons Motor Gear.
From the Factory Floor to the Founder’s Chair — 14 Years of Building Expertise
I, Muhammad Shahid Hanjra, began my career in motorcycle gear manufacturing in 2003 as a Product Manager and Development Coordinator. I translated brand briefs into production-ready specifications, managed sample development, coordinated material sourcing, and ensured that every delivery matched the promise.Over 14 years, I worked across every critical function of OEM glove production. I developed products for European brands under CE EN 13594:2015, 17092, 13634:2017 standards, coordinated certification projects, managed AQL-based quality systems, and sourced leathers, textiles, knuckle protectors, and linings. Along the way, I built deep supplier relationships and a material knowledge base that now informs every Sixons project.
During that time, I also learned why OEM relationships fail: poor communication, inconsistent quality, and a lack of understanding that a brand’s reputation rides on every product. In 2017, I founded Sixons Motor Gear to address these gaps — a specialist factory built on technical expertise, transparent communication, and reliable delivery, not just price. Sixons Motor Gear is a factory-direct OEM and private label manufacturer specializing in motorcycle gloves and full riding gear. Based in Sialkot, Pakistan, we draw on over 40 years of heritage in motorcycle gear manufacturing. The city is home to some of the world’s most skilled leather craftsmen and the most concentrated cluster of CE-compliant motorcycle gear producers outside Europe.Motorcycle gloves are our core specialization, where our pattern-making legacy, material expertise, and CE compliance knowledge are most fully expressed. What We Stand For
Honest communication above all else. The most common reason brands leave their Pakistani suppliers is not quality. It is the discovery that what was promised during quoting is not what is delivered during production. We have built Sixons on a deliberate commitment to say exactly what we can do, at what cost, and on what timeline — and then to do it. When problems arise in production (and in manufacturing, they always do at some point), we communicate them immediately, explain them fully, and propose solutions rather than hoping the client does not notice. This is not a marketing position. It is a non-negotiable operating principle.Technical depth over generalist breadth. We could manufacture a broader range of products for more clients. We choose instead to be the deepest specialist in our category. Motorcycle gloves are the most technically demanding product in riding gear. Our understanding of glove construction, CE compliance, and material behaviour gives us a level of expertise that broad manufacturers cannot match. This depth is what our clients are paying for when they choose Sixons over a cheaper generalist.
Long-term partnership over transactional supply. We are not building a high-volume, low-margin commodity business. We are building a portfolio of long-term manufacturing partnerships with brands that value what we offer. The brands we have worked with the longest — some for five or more years — are not with us because we are always the cheapest option.
